Countdown
Prof. Guojian Cheng

Prof. Guojian Cheng, male, Doctor, is Professor of School of Computer Science, Xi'an Shiyou University. In September 1997, he studied at the University of Tübingen, Germany, and received his Doctorate in Science (Dr. rer. nat.) at the end of 2001. In this period, his research direction is the growth-type learning of self-organizing variable topology neural network and his main academic contribution is to propose a self-organizing neural network structure model such as multi-neuron growth network. At the beginning of 2002, he joined the German Benz R&D Center and conducted research on in-vehicle multimedia and intelligent information transmission. He returned to China in June 2004 and opened courses such as "Neural Computing and Application", "Advanced Artificial Intelligence", and "Machine Learning" for graduate students. In July 2009, he was awarded the honorary title of Shaanxi Province Outstanding Returned Overseas Student. In December 2010, he went to the Department of Petroleum Engineering of West Virginia University for a study visit. In recent years, Professor Cheng has presided over and completed more than 10 scientific research cooperation projects of national natural science fund and oilfield, and instructed more than 50 graduate students. Moreover, he has published 200 articles in related academic research fields and international conferences, and published more than ten books (translated) in the fields of computational intelligence, big data, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. In addition, he initiated the "Intelligent Digital Oilfield High-end Forum (iDOF)", gave lectures of "Artificial Intelligence and Digital Oilfield Technology Application and International Developments" to oilfield enterprises and businesses, and made keynote speeches on "Artificial Intelligence, the Future is Coming" in the training courses of provincial government officials. Due to his great academic influence, Professor Cheng has been invited to serve as a guest speaker and chairman of a number of international academic conferences.
