Qiong Zhang, Distinguished Expert from Sichuan Province, Professor and Doctoral Advisor of School of Automation Engineering of University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, was selected as National Overseas High-Level Talents. She graduated from Tsinghua University to get her Bachelor's degree and won her Doctorate from North Carolina State University in the United States. Zhang once conducted postdoctoral research at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in the United States, worked for Baker Hughes, a Fortune 500 energy company in the United States, for many years, and managed to develop a series of advanced nuclear logging tools and related technologies. She has published many papers and was invited to give a conference report at the International Petroleum Physicists Annual Conference. Besides, she obtained a number of US patents, four of which have been successfully transformed into industrialized technologies, creating great value and profits. Professor Zhang presided over and successfully guided the development and industrialization of core technologies in North America, Europe, and China, and got a deep forward-looking understanding and rich experience in the development of the oil and gas industry. She established a nuclear logging joint laboratory affiliated to the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) Logging and Directional Well Joint Research Institute, and built a group of experimental wells for data acquisition and instrument testing. Moreover, she has been committed to the new generation of clean nuclear detection technology research and the interdisciplinary development of artificial intelligence and geophysics.
